This week’s Member of the Week MK. Elementary school teacher and Burlington native, MK, started at CFE the summer of 2016. She is super energetic and has been making such great progress with every workout. She would definitely be voted “best smile” here at CFE.

When we asked her how CrossFit has enriched her life outside of the gym, she had an amazing answer…

“I was in a funk when I decided to join CrossFit. I was lacking motivation to work out and needed something to help me stay consistent. Since starting, I have more energy and motivation as I go about my day. I just feel happier.”

Q&As

Q: Describe your biggest milestone, achievement, or “A-Ha” moment.
A: The most I had ever deadlifted was 125 for reps. My first one rep max attempt went up pretty easily, so I added some weight and got up to 205. I even felt like I could’ve done more. I was pumped!

Q: What is your favorite CrossFit workout?
A: I love strength days. Squats are my favorite strength exercise. My favorite WODs are the ones that are intense, but quick!

Q: How has CrossFit enriched your life outside the gym?

A: I was in a funk when I decided to join CrossFit. I was lacking motivation to work out and needed something to help me stay consistent. Since starting, I have more energy and motivation as I go about my day. I just feel happier.

Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: “Where you invest your love, you invest your life.” -Mumford and Sons

Q: Do you have any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?
A: Remember that everyone was a beginner once. It’s intimidating to look over and see someone lifting a crazy amount of weight while you’re working with the bar. Remember, no one is judging you. We’re all here to try to be better than we were yesterday.  It doesn’t matter if your “better” is 35# or 335#.

Q: CrossFit…should be tried with an open mind.
